SportLex Law Institute organizes SLAM – Sports Law Arbitration Moot

Applications for the first Sports Law Arbitration Moot (SLAM) in the region are officially open. The competition is designed for students from all over Europe who wish to expand their theoretical knowledge from the field of sports law with hands-on use cases. Team registration is possible until the 13th of January 2020.

SLAM will provide a direct encounter with practical examples and in-depth cooperation with experts from the field of sports law, thus allowing students to gain invaluable experience that will help them on their career paths. The finalists will get a chance to defend their thesis before renowned arbitrators, specifically Antonio Rigozzi, Ulrich Haas, Aleš Galič and Maurice Curvoisier.

The competition is open to law students attending universities and other institutions in Europe, which offer certified law programs. Each participating institution can register one team consisting of three individuals. After receiving their assignments, the teams will have a certain amount of time to ask additional questions and clarify the case, and then each team will prepare a written memorandum. On the 1st of April 2020, the finalists will be announced. They will get a chance to compete in the finals, where they will go through oral proceedings. The final event will be organized on the 7th and 8th of May 2020 and will be hosted by the city of Ljubljana.
